Employee Profile

Mike

Having joined in May 2004 as a Senior Engineer, I was pleased at how quickly I became part of the environment and was soon leading the development of critical projects and enhancements to a market-leading healthcare application. Within a year and a half, I had worked my way to becoming a Development Manager, responsible for the design, development and delivery of major new versions of the product and managing a team of over 50 software engineers.

On top of my achievements at work, I also contribute to Geeklog, an open-source Content Management System/Portal/Blog application. I concentrate particularly on security infrastructure and more enterprise-led features, it gives me the opportunity to let my techie side out now and again, and keep up to speed on the latest development technologies!

I think the best thing about what I do is the variety. One day we’re working on a whole range of problems in a number of languages and technologies, then the next we’re trouble-shooting high priority incidents in live sites. There’s one thing that’s been consistent since my first day and that’s the support of a great team of talented and motivated people, all experts in their field and just as happy sharing their knowledge as they are having a bit of banter.
